Richer, Faster, More Likely to Talk on the Phone

nocell.jpgHere's a good one for the automobile haters: The completely impartial and fair people at Pemco Insurance have done a poll on speeders that attempts to get to the bottom of who these people speeding all over the place are; what they aspire to, what makes them bolt upright in the middle of the night, how much money they make, where they're going in such a damn hurry...

Take it away Pemco:

According to data from the latest PEMCO Insurance Northwest Poll, Washington drivers who earn a household income of more than $75,000 are more likely than their counterparts to speed and talk on a cell phone.

“The poll data indicates there is a correlation between income and driving behavior,” said PEMCO spokesperson Jon Osterberg. “Wealthy drivers are taking more safety risks when driving compared to their counterparts.”

The poll results revealed that drivers with higher incomes say not only do they speed, but they also think talking on a cell phone while driving should be legal regardless of whether or not a hands-free device is used.

Hey, time is money! Leave it to the uninsured, the poor and the airbagless to meander around town on a Tuesday afternoon. These guys gotta get from A to B, and get business done while they're getting there!

Indeed. The BMW-driving-cell-phone-talking folks screw everybody--you can actually predict it and watch it happen every time--at four-way stops in Queen Anne. They can't be bothered by rules and courtesy!

I find just the opposite to be true. The shittier the car the more selfish and careless the driver.
