Meanwhile, Cafe Presse Opens On 12th Ave

So much new stuff! Food critic Bethany over at the Slog tipped us off about Cafe Presse opening not far from our office so we sauntered over for a lunchtime look-see. We spotted it easily because of the yellow sign. It's on the west side of 12th Avenue, on the block south of Madison, forming a French triangle (un triangle français) with Licorous and Lark. Maybe they can all field a soccer team against Stellina and La Spiga.
Everyone who's anyone was there. That's Stranger emeritus editor Sean Nelson's back in the picture, he's heading toward Bethany's table; the Robot Co-op dropped in; and Linda Derschang was just leaving.
Cafe Presse isn't just a cool Euro-style name: they're stocking reading material up front, newspapers (local and foreign) and magazines. There's a single, low-low priced food menu (pdf!) in operation; hours are 7am to 2am. Lotsa baguettes and varieties of croques ($4-$7).
Today we had the salade niçoise ($12), which was long on Italian tuna (che cosa?) and short on spinach and green beans (as we traditionally know the ingredients). Like idiots we didn't sample the $4 glass of Côtes du Rhône. Now...so...thirsty. We'll just have to stop back.
