Dogs: Can't Live With Em, Can't Shoot Em
In Seattle when your neighbor's dog won't shut up you glare out the window at nobody in particular momentarily before sliding it shut (with authority, because there's no neighborly impropriety on god's green Earth that can't be solved with a slammed window) and that's the end of it. That's not how they roll in Auburn, though. In Auburn they shoot the thing.
Three men accused of shooting and killing a Chihuahua on June 11 in Auburn have been charged with first-degree animal cruelty, a felony.Aleksey Buzunov, 20, of Auburn; Vitaliy Zubik, 21, of Renton; and Aliaksandr Rashchuk, 19, of Auburn, are accused of shooting the dog, which according to court charging papers belonged to Rashchuk's next-door neighbor.
After the shooting, in the 700 block of F Place Northeast, one of the men allegedly threw the gun into the Green River.
Seattlest is officially against the shooting of dogs in all but the most Ole Yellarian circumstances. And that reminds us of this Stranger post from yesterday. $15,000, Seattlest, agreed, was an excessive price for a dog's life. Then we read the comments and realized we're a cold, unfeeling robot and that people are free to waste their money on whatever they'd like. To sum up, our love of dogs falls somewhere between paying $15,000 to keep them alive and throwing the gun in the Green River after shooting them with your buddies.
