In 15th Ave News, Smith Opens Next Week

Just when the CHS blog was getting antsy, our friend Bosco emailed us with the date in question: Smith is set to open Tuesday, June 19. And not a moment too soon. We've been doing the Mervyn's lady "Open Open Open" chant for weeks now. For those of you not familiar, Smith is the newest watering hole from Linda Derschang, goddess of the Seattle-friendly hotspot.

There's a whole saga involved involving an ancient Egyptian curse (or something) on that particular spot on 15th Avenue East -- between Palermo's and Starbucks, if our shaky geographical memory serves -- which has played cemetery to a number of pub dreams. But if anyone can break the curse, we believe Linda can. The place has been gutted and renovated, which is always a good step, just because we're Curious Georges and will have to go look at the results. And that'll make us thirsty.
