The Bad Juju's move to Neumos never really felt quite right. The space was just too different, too wonky, and the place never really got a chance to be it's own thing, acting instead as a stopoff point between bands. The Bad Juju was already dead, but the owners finally made it official by closing down the joint and renovating the space. Tonight the space formerly known as the Bad Juju Lounge finally reopens as Moe Bar, and it looks like a keeper.
Seattlest checked out the space last week after seeing it for months as a work in progress. The work has paid off. The space was always narrow, but they've gotten rid of those weird overhangs and pillars, so the space feels a lot more open. The silver foil wallpaper provides the perfect surface for the various rock posters on the wall, making the new space feel like Neumos' true counterpart, instead of like some odd appendage. The lighting is warm and inviting, the new booths are primed for maximal conversation and drink consumption, and the bar staff seem to really know their stuff (they were breezing through orders when we were there, and the place was packed).
Now's your chance to go see the place for yourself. Happy hour prices all night long if you need that as incentive.

Around The -Ists This Week

I'll be there Friday night for Menomena so I'll be sure to check out the new space. Maybe the Neumos owner and I can bury the hatchet over a pint?
