Beastie Boys At The Croc: Sold Out In Ten Seconds

BB.jpgWhen our friend told us the Beastie Boys were playing a warm-up show at the Crocodile this Friday, we called him a liar and a sonofabitch. Then he sent us the Ticketmaster link. No fucking way, we thought.

Tickets went on sale online today at 4pm. We (and our friends, elsewhere in the city) had our fingers on the trigger. Clock hit 3:59 and we started refreshing the Ticketmaster page. Clock hit 4:00 and bam! Purchase Tickets!

We were successful. We'll be seeing the Beastie Boys at the Crocodile Cafe this Friday and we still can't believe it. But we were lucky. None of our friends were successful and you know why? Because of fucking assholes who don't even want to see this show. Take a look at Ebay and Craig's List and there are already tickets for re-sale at obscene prices. This asshole on Ebay is asking for a minimum bid of $399.

This Craig's Lister says it best:

Scalpers are so f-ing lame. I missed work to try and get tickets for this stupid show... I was ON ticketmaster and refreshed the page the SECOND it turned 4:00pm and it ALREADY said "There were no tickets available that matched your request". You damn hackers and scalpers can kiss my a**.
So any of you foofoos who are selling these tix: You are frauders and hackers and craigslist should ban you from trying to sell them.

Thank you for bringing up the subject of online ticket scalping. At this moment in time, I am seriously heated over the fact that those scalping SOBs somehow managed to have enough good Karma (or an automated ticket retrieval mechanism?) to get through the maximum ten seconds of online purchasing time. I wish nothing but the worst of Karma on those greedy SOBs and hope they feel really terrible while they ae counting all that hardly earned cashed. I got one thing to say to all the scalpers out there, "Just think of the children."

I must say -- the fact that they're only allowing will call tickets really helps cut down on scalpers. Theoretically the only option is to buy two and scalp one of the pair (since you have to show ID to pick them up at the door). I just looked at eBay and there's only one listing and it's the "meet me at the box office" type. For $325 though, dammit.

So good for the Beastie Boys/Crocodile/whomever for that. Though it does me no good -- I tried and failed. If anyone has an extra ticket.... ;)

Yeah, what a fucking scam ticketBastard is.
what the fuck.
Me and 5 other guys in my office were poised over the button and hammered the motherfucker right at 4 (and trust me, seconds before and after)
AND, we had one rep on the phone telling us "sorry, Internet sales only" and then, oops, sorry, it's sold out.

ARGH!!!!

I hope the place burns down and those fucking scalpers perish with it.

Hate to break it to you folks who didn't get tickets, but this show is going to be difficult for people to really scalp tickets for so I think much of your anger is being misplaced...The reason for this being that tickets are Will Call only and each person was limited to purchasing 2 tickets - So the "scalper" is really only going to be able to probably scalp 1 of the 2 tickets - I highly doubt they are going to let someone come in, show their ID/credit card and then let that person turn around and walk out the door to drag 2 people in - at best, the scalper is going to be able to sell their 2nd ticket to the highest bidder - this is what the few tickets on Ebay appear to be advertised as.

Sorry, but it's a free market. If someone is willing to pay almost $400 for a ticket, suddenly, the ticket becomes worth that much. Tickets were originally $25, let's call it $45 after all the Ticketmaster fees and such, and you're looking at a $350 profit. I'd scalp 'em, too.

Although I can leave you with a heartwarming note: a coupla years ago when Tom Waits played the Paramount, a buddy of mine had third row center tickets. This was Waits' only American show at the time and said friend could have easily sold the pair for 1800-2000 dollars, but he didn't. AND he loved the show so much he'd do it again.

I was crazy enough to pay mad dollars for tix and now I'm selling two of my extras. I've been able to confirm that two of the tix are in MY name with Ticketmaster and I've got one other from another guy's set. $500 for two. That's what I paid and that's what I'm asking.

Even if there were no scalpers on this show it would not have mattered. It was THE BEASTIE BOYS at the CROC. It was going to sellout in seconds since it was a TINY venue with a seminal band.
