Tonight's Target: Greg Maddux

gregmaddux.jpgVitals: Gregory Alan Maddux, 41 yo RHP. Born in San Angelo, Texas. 6-0, 180. 336-205, 3.07 career. 3-2, 3.20 in 2007. $10,000,000 salary.

Arsenal: Fastball and a changeup. Neither are as fast as they once were, but they get the job done. He mixes in a slow, tight curve and a slider.

Recent Battles: Only one of Maddux' 685 career starts has come against the Mariners. In 2003, while with the Braves, he struck out 10 M's in 7 innings, but allowed Bret Boone to drive in Ichiro twice, and the M's won 2-1 behind Gil Meche.

Our Best Weapon: A 2007 Mariner specialty--swinging at the first pitch. Maddux's first pitch is getting hit at a .365 clip the past three years.

The Internet Says: In September, 1986, Maddux made his major league debut for the Cubs in relief of rookie starter Jamie Moyer. Moyer's opponent that day was Nolan Ryan.

Horacio Ramirez (3-2, 6.40) goes for the M's. Gametime is 7:05 at Safeco. It's on KSTW-TV (Ch. 11), KOMO-AM/1000 (in English) and KDOW-AM/1680 (en espanol)

Love your "Our Next Target" feature. Why not include the game time and if it's televised as well?

Radio?

Hey--thanks Jeffrey. Forgot to include game time this time, but I've just updated it.
