Ex-Husky Quarterback Now Dirty Old Man
Tom Porras, who started 17 games at QB for the University of Washington in the late 70s, is now wearing an electronic monitoring device along with his '79 Sun Bowl ring. He's been indicted for sexually assaulting a student at the Phoenix-area school where he was a substitute teacher and coach.
A rather prurient account comes from the Arizona Republic:
There was soft music playing in the loft when the 17-year-old track athlete arrived at her coach's home after school.Full icky details are here.Tom Porras, 49, a former professional football player and substitute teacher and track coach at Saguaro High School, had asked the girl to come to his house to watch videos of other athletes doing the long jump.
He also asked if he could give her an "athletic massage."
But Porras' version of the "athletic massage" resulted in his indictment Friday on one count of public sexual indecency and one count of assault.
Porras, who played professionally in the USFL, CFL, and Arena Football League, has admitted to the charges. His neighbors, according to the East Valley Tribune, are mystified.
“My wife and I are good friends with them,” said Richard Lorbeer, Porras’ next-door neighbor. “We can’t get over it. My wife said it never leaves her mind. “He’d do anything we ask of him, like when we needed to borrow something, he’d let us use it. Their sons are polite, and they’re both Eagle Scouts. We’ve never had one minute’s problem out of them. Their home is kept immaculate. Nothing is out of place.”
