The Soothing Sounds of Running Aground

After being stuck on the rocks for eight hours in Alaska the Empress of the North is unloaded and heading back to Astoria. News articles have been talking about how the ship's crew played live music during the evacuation. From the Seattle Times:

As they waited for rescue, passengers were ordered to don lifejackets and gather in the ballroom, where a singer and piano player entertained them with songs including "Take Me Out to the Ball Game."

Even the fishing boat that arrived on the scene to take on passengers tried to lull them with music:

"We expected people to be losing their minds, but they were surprisingly calm," the 27-year-old captain said from aboard The Evening Star. "We gave them some coffee and one of the guys [on the crew] played guitar for them."

What do you play for a bunch of cruise passengers that just got evacuated from their vessel in the middle of the night? The Alaska Song? All a part of the trip, folks.

Yeah, I meant to mention that. So is live music like part of the evac handbook or something?

Didn't the band play as the Titanic sank too?
