Tonight's Target: Matt DeSalvo

mattdesalvo.jpgVitals: 26 yo RHP. Born in New Castle, PA. 6-0, 170. This will be his first major league game. (3-0, 1.05 at AAA in 2007)

Arsenal: DeSalvo told Baseball America in 2005: “I throw seven different pitches: a four-seamer, a two-seamer, a cutter, the [knuckle] curve, a slider, a forkball, and a change. Having a lot of pitches gives me backup options." His fastball is low 90s.

Recent Battles: None

Our Best Weapon: A guy who throws seven pitches will be tough for guess hitters like Adrian Beltre and Richie Sexson, but the guys with half-an-idea at the plate should be able to pick out a hittable pitch.

The Internet Says: Despite being the NCAA all-division leader for career wins and strikeouts (he pitched for Division III Marietta (Ohio) College) DeSalvo wasn't drafted.

Miguel Batista (3-2, 6.30) goes for the M's. Game's at 4:05 on Ch. 11 and ESPN
