Is working for beer really work at all?
The Seattle International Beerfest (SIB) will take place again this year at Seattle Center from June 29 to July 1. You will have to act soon though if you would like to work as a volunteer and earn yourself some beer. You can earn up to 43 beer tickets by working shifts pouring beer to the masses.
SIB has the best selection of Seattle's beer festivals. They feature beers that are not available anywhere this side of the Atlantic, in addition to a variety of special local beers. While the SIB website lists a few of the beers that are confirmed to be there, it is far from complete. We've seen a list of beers, provided by the organizer, that will likely be there; some highlights follow with a complete list after the break.
Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast Stout - This highly rated beer from Denmark is an oatmeal stout brewed with gourmet coffee. This might be the first beer we run to.
Abbaye de St.Bon Chien Vintage 2005 - You've got to be kidding. We paid something like $25 for a bottle of this Swiss beer. This is a Biere de Garde brewed in 2005, then aged 20 months in Merlot, Cab, Whiskey and Grappa barrels. The taste is an amazing mix of sour fruit and toasted oak. This is one of the most complex beers we've ever tasted.
Struise Pannepot - Just another great beer from Belgium, those lucky bastards. This Belgian Strong Ale is similar to some of the dark, strong trappist brews.
Walking Man Jaywalker Imperial Stout - Although this is a local WA brewery, you do not see their Imperial Stout on tap very often here in Seattle. A big stout with lots of flavor (and alcohol).
