Actually a Pretty Nice Little Saturday
There will be plenty to see, do, and hate tomorrow, here is a guide—although we’ll probably end up sleeping in, before re-organizing our photo albums.

The highlight of the event (unless you’re favorite thing is watching rich people dressed like this wave) are the crew races. This year Purdue and New Zealand's Waikato University think they can just waltz into Portage Bay and not get entirely beat down. Good luck with that, because if the top ranked U-Dub crew teams don’t get you than the fifty degree May weather will. As they say in the world of sculling, “On guard.”
The event is free, if you can find a spot along Montlake Cut or up on the bridge. The crew races run from 10:20 to 11:30. The rest of the schedule is here.

SAM OPENS-- It's finally time for the new and improved Seattle Art Museum to open its doors to the public, and, much like your mom, will go all night.
From 10am on Saturday though Sunday evening, SAM will be showing off its expanded light-filled galleries, improved collection, stunning installations, and a statue of a giant mouse standing on some dude while he sleeps. There will be live entertainment, activities, and free admission.
We plan on being there in the wee hours of the morning to see Zack and T-Bone stumble in after a night of partying at Cowgirls and Belltown Billards to contemplate how John Singleton Copley expressed his religious symbolism through visual references reminiscent of the grand manner.
More events after the jump.
MARINERS GAME-- Jeff Weaver will be "pitching" for the Mariners in Yankee Stadium. A strong start by Weaver would upgrade his condition from, 'Steaming Pile of Rancid Shit,' to 'Really, Really, Extremely Terrible.' Yankee fans will be there to boo their brain cell out at the man who was last seen in pinstripes giving up a walk off home run in the 2003 World Series. Win or lose USS Mariner will use math to explain why the team is doomed and Lookout Landing will use humor to remind us that they are geniuses.
The game is at 12:55 on FOX, which means that Joe Buck and Tim McCarver will be crawling around the inside of your ears all afternoon, sorry.
THE KENTUCKY DERBY at EMERALD DOWNS-- You can watch the excitement on their color TVs, and enjoy live horse racing action-- there will also be wagering, a hat contest, and mint juleps for the kids. Sounds just like being at Churchill Downs, except the people who attend the actual race are rich or attractive, and we're guessing our local event will be sporting an 0 for 2 mark on that front.
Special First Race Post Time: 1pm. Derby at 3pm.
CINCO DE MAYO— Don’t cram yourself into some makeshift cantina with bunch of Corona-light-slurping junior account executives, instead celebrate the fifth of May by enjoying dinner at one of the many taco trucks in the Seattle area.
THE SATs—Probably not safe to discuss here….we’ll talk later.
