Loud Music + Wild Animals = Good Times... Right?

animal.jpgWAMU Zoo Tunes recently announced their upcoming concert lineup. Personally, we say Meh -- but we're not every day listeners of The Mountain, so to be honest, we don't even recognize half the names on this list. Herbie Hancock would probably be great. The guy's a jazz legend after all.

Meanwhile, Seattlest is still trying to figure out why we love Brandi Carlile but the Indigo Girls make us want to rip our teeth out one-by-one with a bow & arrow and some string. Think about it.

Here's the lineup:

Indigo Girls – June 17th - $24
Herbie Hancock Trio – June 20th - $21
Brandi Carlile – June 27th - $19
Patty Griffin – July 18th - $21
Pink Martini – July 25th AND 26th - $26.50
Great Big Sea – July 29th - $19
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones – August 1st - $19
Robert Earl Keen w. guest Todd Snider – August 8th - $17
Old Crow Medicine Show w. guest The Be Good Tanyas – August 15th - $17

Sub-question: Is there or was there ever a debate about having a big concert series at the Zoo? -- For the animals' sake? What about the residents of Phinney Ridge? Have they ever revolted, NIMBY-Wallingford style?

"What about the residents of Phinney Ridge?"

I lived in Phinney Ridge for a few years. Residents complained about concertgoers parking on the streets. So the Zoo decided to build a parking garage. Then the residents complained about the parking garage.

    Can't win for losin'.

Jack doesn't hate harmonies, just lesbians.

Bela Fleck is amazing....highly suggest checking that out!

I've seen Herbie Hancock at events like this--he knows his audience and tends to go with his smooth jazz oeuvre. Disappointing.

If you don't like the Indigo Girls, maybe you hate harmonies?
