Get Out: Silent Movie Mondays @ The Paramount

HAROLD LLOYD: Tonight kicks off a month-long retrospective of the films of Harold Lloyd [learn more!], with Grandma's Boy and Dr. Jack.
Lloyd's character wore round glasses and a perpetual look of earnest enthusiasm. (That still is from Movie Crazy.) He knew that keeping audiences on the edge of their seats with stunts made them laugh even harder -- but he may not have known that his clueless can-do attitude would sum up the 1920s in the U.S.
We first saw his films when we were...much younger, on something called a 16-millimeter projector (our earliest acquaintance with the metric system) and they were truly silent. But the Paramount offers Dennis James on the mighty Wurlitzer organ, and if you've never been, it's worth going just to hear how it once sounded inside movie palaces.
7pm // Paramount Theatre // Tickets $12 adult, $9 students/seniors
