I like the part where he talks about 'not touching it with your hands', that is good. it shows he knows something about soccer. but seriously, this is a very poorly written article. he spends most of the body making clear his disdain for the sport and the team, even stating that the new players are not even worth mentioning. And at the end he invites everyone down to the Sounders games, as if anyone would come after reading this article. what an idiot. you see, this is why the sounders are so easy to laugh at; because sure, they've gotten some trophies, but even so, nobody, not even in their hometown, likes them enough to even show up for a game! this is further evidenced by the diminutive size of their supporter's group. Maybe if the Sounders had a bigger crowd, this rivalry (and the sounders) would be a bit more interesting, and qwest wouldn't be so "cavernous" Rose City Til I Die!

When will we? Talk about NOT getting soccer culture and history. Since 1974, and then again since 1994. Both times before PDX, and in the NASL years, not even close. Seattle historically supports pro soccer better than PDX. Supporter group size only matters to people who feel the need to measure, and has almost nothing to do with overall club health.

...like the comment about Timbers fans 'giving' you money by travelling... shows how much you understand soccer culture. would love to see seattle bring numbers down to pdx and renew the rivalry of old... you can slag off timbers fans all you like, but can't deny we are doing our bit to support the growth/profile of the league. when will you?

Better late than never (LOL). Any of you lot who like to drink lots of beer and get rowdy and such, stop by section 113 for matches this season, and the pre-match pint-fests at Fuel nightclub (two blocks north of Qwest Field). Oh, and we're putting out a CD compilation of local bands, and a rock show with 3 of the bands on the CD (24 Hour Church of Beer, Kings of the Wing People, and Zero Down) at Fuel after the Rochester game on Friday May 18.
