Madrona School Is Trying To Make Your Child Black
Seattlest's former elementary school, Madrona, is the leading edge of a terrifying movement in Seattle Public Schools.
No matter how many Microsoft stock options you have, no matter how many Jonathan Kozol books you've read, you can't stop it. Put your child in private school now or they'll be consigned to a life of stupidity...and blackness.
Nine white families withdrew their kids from Madrona Elementary this year after a series of shocking indignities. But none worse than this, as reported on the front page of this morning's Seattle Times:
[Parents] fret about their children having to sing what's known as the black national anthem at assemblies. Its lyrics, which begin, "Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing ... ," are printed on the gymnasium wall.My GOD. Do you see what's happening here, people? Open your eyes. First, your child is singing Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing, then they are coming home with a school issued afro-pick, and before you know it they are demanding a '64 Impala from West Coast Customs for their 16th birthday and applying to Howard instead of Penn.
Parents are also upset that Spanish isn't offered in the school, that class sizes are large, and that there isn't any art or music. Oh, and the ingratitude of the administration! Just read this:
One parent who organized neighborhood fathers to build a shed and chairs for a learning garden said the school refused them weekend access to power and didn't even thank them when the work was done."God Dammit! We gave up our Saturday morning foursome at Sahalee to make sure our children have teak chairs to sit on while they pluck their cellos among a field of orchids, and we don't even get a thank you? Chris Rock is right about those people."
