An Interview with a Guy Who Needs More People For His Fantasy Baseball League

kaiser.jpg

Geoff Kaiser is the commissioner of a roto baseball league in Seattle. He needs owners for a couple of teams.

How would you describe the people that make up the league?
White collar drunks? Most of us in our upper 20's. We all like sports and beer. Fantasy baseball is something to keep us busy when we should be working. Some of us from the Midwest/South originally. The draft is at the Eastlake Zoo Tavern....tells you what kind of people we are.

Does the league have a name?
Not a good one yet. Unless you think "Seattle ROTO Money" is a good name.

Who in the league is the guy who you're most likely to be able to talk into making a terrible trade?
Jared Connor. Just offer him a Cardinal player and you're good to go.

Why do you think it's so hard to find people to play fantasy baseball in this town?
That's a good question....I'd have 5 leagues filled by now in some cities with all the posts I've put on various websites/message boards. I'm going to guess there are just less gambling and sports addicts around here. People also think a fantasy league is a lot of work...it's really not.

Who are your best and worst fantasy draft picks ever?
My best recent pick is probably Brian McCann (Atlanta Braves Catcher) in the last round of a keeper league draft last year.... always nice to get a 22 year old all-star in the last round of a keeper league draft.

My worst pick would be Mark Prior any of the last 3 years....he's had 18 wins combined; and I've had him every year. Of course, I'll likely still draft him this year....

Seattle ROTO Money's draft is this Wednesday night at the Zoo Tavern. Details about the league are after the break. If you're interested, contact Geoff at phishphan1000@yahoo.com
