Downtown War Protests

Two war protests are occupying Downtown right now so if you didn't leave work way early you're screwed. Alternately, you pick up a banner and march along with them for awhile. They shouldn't be too hard to find: reports say several thousand about a thousand are gathered to protest the fourth anniversary of the war.

Here's some video of yesterday's Peace March:

I can assure you the person who made the video [me] IS a veteran. And yes there were plenty of us there, although there should have been more. I guess we'll have to wait for more fathers, sons, daughters, mothers, brothers, sisters, and friends come home in a box or without their limbs or sanity if they are lucky enough to make it back.

while i'm guessing there were probably at least a few veterans who took part in the counter-protest, it was mostly astroturf republicans.

...and this site still isn't allowing URL's "without being validated by typekey". the story is on firedoglake as "late-nite-fdl-anatomy-of-a-conservative-sissy-attack/"

Did you have any anti-protestor protestors in Seattle? Here in Washington we had a significant amount of Vets speaking out against the war protestors, more than ever before. I get upset when these guys say we don't support our troops. I support the troops but I do not support the war.

PBS is doing an interesting series next month that addresses many of the controversial world issues we face. I noticed they will be screening a couple of the documentaries at the Seattle Public Library on Thursday evening. The details can be found here.

    Be well!
