"Patty Griffin" and "Rock This Town" aren't generally two phrases that go together easily. But, as tree-hugger, festival-going folk fans, by "rock," we generally mean "musically woo," or "melodically enthrall." Which is exactly what Patty Griffin does on her latest album, Children Running Through.
The CD is full of parables and gospel songs, inspired by Griffin's inner child and intense memories of childhood events. She attacks each song with the wide-eyed anticipation and wonderment of a young girl, and exits each with the unmatchable grace and wisdom of a full-grown woman who has not only learned from mistakes, but from triumphs, as well. Lending her voice to a particularly beautiful musical metaphor ("Trapeze") is none other than Emmylou Harris, another queen of acoustic music.
In fact, Griffin is singer/songwriter royalty, if there is such a thing, and we're bursting at the seams over the opportunity to spend an entire evening at the ever-surrounded-by-loud-construction Paramount Theater The Moore. It's highly unlikely that Harris will be on hand for that one beautiful song, but Griffin has made enough music for her fans to know she doesn't need Emmylou or anyone else to make her songs beautiful.
Tickets are still on sale. $31-$33.50, not including fees.

Tuesdays are Muppet Days

I think that the show is at the Moore, not the Paramount. I'm definitely looking forward to the show.
Yeah, my bad. It makes it confusing that the Moore and the Paramount share the same Web site and schedule.
Go see her!! I got to go to Los Angeles this last week for her current tour and she does rock!! The girl can rock and oh can she sing. She will make you cry and rock your soul.
And, I hear the lovely Patty Griffin is going to be on the Mountain on Monday too...I think at 3:15.
