Get Out
MUSIC: Other than at Sasquatch in May, tonight's your only chance to see Smoosh on their current tour, when they open for Bloc Party at the Paramount. Yeah, Bright Eyes are also playing over at the Showbox, but seriously, you'd try to get scalped tickets to go see them over Smoosh? Whatever.
8pm // The Paramount // $25.50 plus fees
FOOD & FUNDRAISING: Tarragona Wine and Food on Capitol Hill is hosting a wine tasting/auction in honor of their friend Guy Johnson, a local cancer survivor who is trying to raise $10,000 for his Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training marathon in April.
3-5pm // Tarragona Wine and Food // $25/person (suggested)
COLD SCIENCE: The University of Washington's Polar Science Center has teamed up with Pacific Science Center to present Polar Science Weekend, four days of demonstrations, talks, and exhibits about life on the ice. Aside from getting another chance to see expeditionary artist Maria Coryell-Martin's gorgeous ice paintings, we're likely to show up to figure out why weekends up there are so much longer--is it all that extra daylight?
10am - 6pm // Pacific Science Center // All Ages // Free with museum admission: $10 adults; $7 kids 3-12; Free for members and children under 3
FILM: Bring a pillow for your ass, and settle in for four hours of Jacques Rivette's La Belle Noiseuse. It is about art and the process of creation and collaboration and...ah screw that it has Emmanuelle Béart and that's really why you're gonna go.
1pm and 7pm // Northwest Film Forum // $5-$8.50
