Maybe it's because we're from the East Coast, but we're firm believers that there's some sort of force field around the West Coast, keeping all the singer/songwriters from becoming world famous and conquering the planet in the same way that eastern folksingers like Dar Williams and the Indigo Girls have.
Occasionally, however, some random West Coaster—Laura Love, Brandi Carlile—manages to break out of the force field and become adored by everyone else in our fair land.
Now, there's Brett Dennen—a local kid who looks way younger than he is—who's managed to tour with everyone under the sun, and now he's back for a Seattle show at Chop Suey this Sunday 3/11. We caught Dennen at Bumbershoot last year, and were sold by his cover of "Billie Jean." He's got some great songs he wrote himself, too, but we're hoping he'll be playing "Billie Jean" this Sunday. Tickets are $10.
