Rest of the Country Realizing That Morons Are Running Seattle

moron.jpgWith ballots for the fake Viaduct election due next Tuesday others around the country are starting to take notice, and tease us.

The Economist (which hasn’t been the same since it stopped running box scores) covered the story and summed up the situation thusly, “Seattle’s tunnel has become a trip to political hell. All aboard.”

They also quote U-Dub professor and expert of public policy Bryan Jones on the area’s leadership, “[Mayor Nickels and Governor Gregoire] are going to go down as some of the worst urban leaders in America.”

Not as scary a thought as when they put this image in our heads, “The spectacle of the bulky, dark-haired Mr Nickels mud-wrestling with the diminutive, honey-haired Ms Gregoire has not been edifying.”

Meanwhile The Los Angeles Times is using the subject to educate their readers on what we around here know about all to well.

“In a way, the saga of the neglected roadway is a textbook example of what many call the "Seattle process," or the reputed civic inclination here to seek so much public input and listen to so many sides of an argument that nothing actually gets done.

Well, on the bright side this could mean fewer jokes about the rain.

If only I could believe that this unwelcome attention might spark some measure of self-awareness in our civic leaders.
