Get Out

RADIO: We don't care if it's passe to think so: Ira Glass is a goddamn genius. Our favorite kind of genius -- the kind who builds an ecosystem in which other geniuses flourish. He's in town tonight to talk about what he learned from making a TV show.

7:30pm // The Paramount // sold out, but apparently people on Craigslist think it's worth $325 a ticket

MUSIC: Midlake bring '70s rock and a mess of harmony from small town Denton, Texas. Their latest album, The Trials of Van Occupanther, with all its simple beauty and its critical acclaim, is definitely on our list.

9pm // The Crocodile // $10

BURLESQUE: Just the other day we were thinking to ourselves, "What are the Atomic Bombshells up to?" Answer: they're returning, in "The Return of the Atomic Bombshells." Don't call it a comeback, unless you can make it a vaguely naughty pun.

7pm and 10pm // The Triple Door // $20

COMEDY: Peoples Republic of Komedy and Seattle Foundry present Laff-Stravaganza, which they describe as "alt/indie stand-up comedy." Which probably means they bought a copy of The Velvet Underground and Nico but couldn't play instruments well enough to form a band.

7:30pm all ages, 9:30pm 21+ // Capitol Hill Arts Center, Lower Level // $5 per show, $8 for both
