Frank Chopp? You Mean the Guy Who Has the Really Bad Viaduct Idea?
With NASCAR putting a full throttle charge, or whatever NASCAR fans say, over a proposed track in Kitsap County, our own elected officials are being as classless as the fans they claim will flock to the track.
When a reporter asked House Leader Frank Chopp to comment on racing legend Richard Petty's lobbying visit, Chopp snidely responded, "You mean the guy who got picked up for a DUI?"
Leaving aside whether publicly slagging someone for a DUI is ok, there's this: Petty's never gotten a DUI.
Moments later Chopp tried to back away from his comments, and claimed that someone had told him about the DUI. He has since apologized to Petty in person.
What's most amazing about Chopp's comments is that he himself has been picked up for a DUI, or at least that's what we heard.
