Last year Eddie Guardado had a terrible April and lost the M's closer job to J.J. Putz. He thought Mike Hargrove would give him a chance to win his job back, but, in his mind, he didn't get that chance. And he's not happy.
Guardado tells the P-I's Jim Moore:
Grover knows he gave me a bunch of bullcrap. I'm a man. I want people to respect me. I was told a bunch of lies by the manager, and he knows it.
On May 20th, Mike Cameron lined a ball off of Guardado's knee. Hargrove removed Guardado immediately, though he said he was fine.
"After that I was lost," Guardado tells Moore. "I was so frustrated I wanted to kill somebody."
We'll miss the good times with Guardado, like when he lit Jose Lopez' shoes on fire and showered Kenji Johjima with garbage...ok, not so much that, but his 36 saves in 2005 were pretty cool.
Guardado had elbow surgery last year, and is hoping to make it back for the Reds' series in Safeco, starting June 22nd--which will also be when (if he's not injured) Ken Griffey Jr. returns.

Tuesdays are Muppet Days

"When he's in Seattle in June, he plans to seek out Hargrove and look for closure.
'I'm not gonna be rude,' he said. 'But when you push somebody's buttons ... '"
I see some short-sheeting and a hot-foot or two in Grover's future...
