Wednesday, February 21

>>> The Thermals at Chop Suey. The Thermals are back in town to rock out for the cause of saving all ages shows. With Helvetia, Speaker Speaker.
* mp3: How We Know
8:00 pm doors // $10 adv. // All ages

>>> The Budos Band at Neumo's. James Brown may be beating women in heaven, but on Earth we've still got the Budos Band, a ten-piece of twentysomethings who bring sweet horn-heavy psychedelic afro-funk guaranteed to get asses shaking.
* music clips available at band's website
8:00 pm doors // $10 // All ages

Thursday, February 22

>>> Tim O'Brien, Jerry Douglas, Chris Thile & How to Grow a Band, Darrel Scott Band, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, Uncle Earl, and many more at Wintergrass. Wintergrass is one of the biggest bluegrass festivals in the country, and this is one of the best line-ups they've had in some time. It's worth it to go see all the bands, or just to hang out in the lobby and jam out all weekend for free.
All day and night through Sunday the 25th // $12-$300 depending on whether you're a kid, adult, or family // Single-day tickets and weekend passes are still available online.

Friday, February 23

>>> Floater at Neumo's. Portland's Floater usually bring it heavy, but tonight they're going Unplugged, so they're going to sound extra artistic and sensitive.
* Streaming songs on their site.
8:00 pm // $10 adv. // All ages

Saturday, February 24

>>> Alexi Murdoch at the Crocodile Cafe. This Scottish singer-songwriter is sooooo up-and-coming (he's had songs on TV shows up the wazoo) that you won't be able to catch him in clubs this small for much longer. Openers Midnight Movies round out the bill with their moody noir pop.
* mp3: Love You More
9:00 pm doors // $15 // 21+

>>> Seattle Opera presents Handel's Julius Caesar at McCaw Hall. The title role in this tale of power and intrigue (never before performed in Seattle) is sung by contralto Ewa Podles, who wowed audiences as Adalgisa in Norma a couple of seasons ago.
7:30 pm // $49 to $127 // Runs through March 10. Tickets: (206) 389-7676

>>> Brightblack Morning Light at the Triple Door. It's no laser show, but if you spark up a fatty, the desert sounds of BML should do the trick.
* mp3: Amber Canyon Magik
8:00 pm // $13 adv, $15 dos

Sunday, February 25

>>> Josh Ritter at the Showbox. Special solo acoustic show. The Submarines open.
* mp3 downloads here.
8:00 pm // $17.50 adv. $20 dos. // 21+ // Limited seating available.

Monday, February 26

>>> Sirens Sister at Chop Suey. Sirens Sister describes their music as "Rock / Rock / Rock" on their MySpace, but we can't help but to think how that would make for a pretty aggressive Rock Paper Scissors strategy. With The Look, Suns of Guns, Blitzen Trapper.
* song samples on MySpace.
8:00 pm // $6 // 21+
