Air France is announcing daily direct flights from Seattle to Paris today, beginning June 11. Wow, just in time for that early summer get-away we've been trying to plan. The Port's email release focuses more on Parisians coming to Seattle, of course:
“Having a non-stop flight is likely to bring new European travelers into our market and into our economy.” said Visitors Bureau CEO Don Welsh “Leisure travelers from France typically spend about two weeks when they come here, and they visit all corners of the state.”
The airline plans to service the route with an Airbus A-330-200 which will depart Seattle at 2:35pm daily. Wait, an Airbus to France? Fuck that. We'll be taking a Boeing if it means we have to layover in L.A., New York and Amsterdam on the way. And we're going to walk on the grass when we get there.

They've been placing a lot of orders for Boeing 777's. Maybe we should start a kerfuffle and get them to use the 777's that have been delivered on this route. And serve freedom fries while they're at it!
Air France was again voted as the best transatlantic company in the world (whatever this means). Go ahead and enjoy small leg room and grumpy flights attendants from your favorite US based airline, I'll be enjoying direct flight, in flight standard power plugs (coach cabin) and French food (sort of).
