The Huskies Will Beat Wazzu Tonight

volunteers.jpgOne thing we love about Coug fans, when their teams are winning they are the cockiest, most trash talkingest group of hombres this side of the Cascades. This year is no different, and with good reason.

After a decade of dreadful basketball they are currently second in the Pac 10, number ten in the country, and have a realistic shot of nabbing a three, or dare they dream, a number two seed come March.

Tonight they play the down and out Huskies who have stumbled through the Pac 10 season, and are now a long shot to make the Tournament-- and U-Dub will win. We’re not sure how they will defeat the far superior Cougs, but history is on the side of the purple and gold (See the 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2006 Apple Cups)

Most every time a good Cougar team faces the Huskies the Wazzu fans drown their team with pressure. Cougar fans are obsessed with the Huskies. We're pretty sure that they care more about the Huskies losing that the Cougars winning.

Ask any Cougar fan about tonight’s game in private and they will tell you the same thing. Ask Vegas, they have the worst Husky team in years as a three point favorite over the best Cougar team ever.

Back in January when people were starting to realize that this Cougar team was special they put a licking on the Spencer Hawes-less Huskies, 75-47. Tonight it will be different, and Cougar fans won't admit it out loud, but they know better than anyone that we're right.

The game is on Comcast channel 17.

that's the link, get your cup of hot water ready!

  • ahahahahah at Brockman getting teabagged by Ivory! (see link)

just fulfilling my duty as cocky coug. but you are wrong on one accusation against us... we don't always wish the huskies to lose, in fact I wish the poor huskies the best in their desperate attempt to make the NIT.

    :D

Once again it must suck to be a huskie, or is it husky, dogs or dawgs. For such a self proclaimed prestigious institution, the lack of proper spelling and grammar clearly shows level of intelligence it takes to be a Fuskie. I personally could not make it to the game, because I refuse to give any money to the Fuskies, hell I dont even take 520 because I get sick to my stomach everytime I pass UW, or even catch a glimpse of purple and gold.

    GO COUGS

Still waiting on a retraction or maybe a new post talking about how good the Cougs are. This might be a Seattle-centric site, but there are many Cougs in Seattle and we like to think we matter, too. Thanks.

I can't believe it. I was at the game, section 3, and I fully expected the Cougs to foul Appleby as he shot that desperation three (they almost did, actually). Maybe, as our Coug companion suggested, the Cougs only Coug it in football.

I hope you guys go far in the tourney--Low carries his balls to the game in a dump truck, and if there's a better post defender than Ivory Clark, I haven't seen him.

He must study film on Brockman, he knows all his moves. I think the Cougs could make the Final Four.

Also, it's worth pointing out that the refs were screwing the Cougs all game, treating Hawes like he was made of glass--Hawes totally got the star treatment in that game and the Cougs won in spite of it. Very, very impressive.

    WSU 65 - UW 61

It shows the arrogance of Husky fans to suggest that the Cougars (or any other CBB team, for that matter) are going to drown under the pressure of fan expectations. Most college athletes don't care what the fans say. You guys really think you matter that much to these kids? Grow up as these players already have. Enjoy your place as fans of the #3 team in the State.

Then again, maybe not. Apology to come? Seth, Dave S.?

    OOOOOOOPS!

  • Shawn

Whatever! The Cougs beat the Huskies last year when the Huskies were playing really good basketball (unlike this year -- can you say "NIT"?). I love how Husky fans are a bunch of bandwagon fans and try to bring down Coug fans, who endure with their teams through the thick and the thin. The Cougs will win tonight and the Huskies might make the NIT. GO COUGS!!

  • Frank

    I love this post.

    Go Huskies!
