Hey, Paint the Town --

Seating and crowd management for quiz night is pretty much going to be up to the Old Pequliar staff. I feel your pain -- that bar gets crowded -- but at every pub quiz I've played, seating pretty much works the same way. If you have any ideas for a workable (that is, won't put too much burden on the bar staff) alternative, I'd be happy to mention it to the OP staff. (I'll mention your current idea, but I suspect it won't fly.)

So far as compensation goes, I don't think we're married to the current fee structure. However, the bar may not want to double the pot if the initial funds grow -- but again, I can ask. And if we decide to change the entry fees, we can always accept a flat contribution from the bar, or something else.

Do any other players want to see these things change? Do let us know.

Even though we aren't smokers, my Interstate Commerce Commission teammate and I happily accepted the box of Camel ashtrays we got with our third place prize. After the quiz, we were waiting at the bus stop and 15th and Market when a guy asked for change. My friend offered him an ashtray and he took one for his girlfriend. We explained why we were walking around with a box of Camel ashtrays and he was pretty impressed that we had won such a cool prize. Another guy, this one a smoker, came over to see what was going on and we gave him one too. He told us that when Camel first started coming out with merchandise, he had every single thing that they made. He was pretty sure it would be worth a lot of money now but his ex-wife has it, along with his house. We offered him the whole box and he was really, really excited and grateful. So thanks Seattlest, for bringing some joy to the bus stop.

lordie---it is getting to the point when people have to show up almost 3 hours early to get seating.

how about a no saving seats policy---or no seating incomplete parties.

this problem would be resolved if one of our teammates could lose his/her job...so they can roll up at 4:30 and sit by themselves and stake out a claim.

another idea: charge more than a buck per-person---like 3 bucks---and give 2/3rds to a charity.

don't get me wrong, we love the seattlest trivia night---and when we're disloyal and attend another venue, it blows---and we return to the OP with our collective tails between our legs---but know that the OP is starting to be more pain than gain.
