Cities in other states. Why, during 24 tonight, did Fox 13 news use their "Coming up" commercial break to tell us they have Breaking News about a bunch of people who got shot in a mall in Salt Lake City? (Granted, we're from there, so we care but we don't understand why this is making the Seattle news.) And why are they reporting on their site about a murder-suicide in Philadelphia?
Next thing you know, we'll be hearing about a 6-car pile up in Poughkeepsie.

Because if it bleeds, it leads.
Besides, tales of murder and mayhem help keep people scared. It's a Fox station, after all.
One night our local Seattle Fox news affiliate informed me that an alligator had bitten a car's bumper in Florida. They had video of the actual bumper.
Yeah, but right after that, they had news about a shooting in Tacoma..."anything you can do we can do better!"
oh, I don't know why anyone would write about weird deaths in other cities...

I think a shooting like this in a public place is sort of a big deal. The Tacoma mall shootings were on CNN and I think they should have been. People find these sorts of events a disturbing trend in the country (or apparent trend) and can't help but feel the need to know about them. Seattlest, you have a bit of the grumpy old man in you at times.
Ah, touche Josh. But, we do tend to stand in for PDX-ist at times since it still doesn't exist, so that's my paltry excuse in that case...
