DEMOCRACY: There's a Seattle school levy election today. If you don't know where you are supposed to vote, but know your name and the day you were born, you can look it up online. If you can't get to that place, you can cast a provisional ballot anywhere--just march up to the nice poll-worker ladies at your local school or church and say "I'd like to cast a provisional ballot, please." We did it last election and it worked like a dream.

Until 8pm // Any Polling Place // Free, but if you don't vote the cost is incalculable.

BASKETBALL: Ballard needs a win to secure a place in the Kingco tourney. They face 1st place Roosevelt.

7:30pm // Ballard High School [65th and 15th N.W.] // $6

BOOKS: Stranger genius award winner Jonathan Raban will read from his new dystopian novel Surveillance at Elliot Bay. (Stranger genius award loser Seattlest Seth will read from his new autobiographical novel A Virgin No More to whoever's unlucky enough to sit next to him at the Roosevelt/Ballard game.)

7:30pm // Elliott Bay // FREE

FOOD: It's Taco Tuesday at the Tin Hat, where they play good music, and serve cold beer with a smile. Tacos--the ones with the hard shell, like mom used to serve--are 69 cents.

All night // The Tin Hat // [65th and 5th Ave N.W.]

TRIVIA: The juggernaut that is Seattlest trivia continues. There were 25 teams last week, an all-time record. James hosts. Guaranteed category: Science fiction authors. We've seen the quiz and it's a good one.

8pm (Get there early) // The Old Pequliar [1722 NW Market St] // $5 per team

POETRY: We just heard about English actor/novelist/genius Stephen Fry's book The Ode Less Travelled: Unlocking the Poet Within. Locals Sherman Alexie, Chelsea Rathburn, Richard Wakefield and Eric McHenry consider a similar theme tonight: "How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Rhyme" is a roundtable discussion and reading of formal poetry.

7pm // Richard Hugo House // FREE
