If you got caught in traffic today because Aurora was closed for five hours, you've got your friendly Seattle cops to thank:
Just after 1:30 a.m. Monday, officers were called to an apartment building in the 1500 block of Aurora Avenue North following a report that a man there had thrown a knife at his girlfriend and threatened two other people in the apartment with a rifle...Is this what our cops do? Wait half the day for "police negotiators" to drag their capacious asses out of their SleepNumber beds?Police closed northbound lanes of Aurora Avenue and a seven-block section of Dexter Avenue North shortly after the call came in, Whitcomb said. Aurora Avenue was reopened after 7 a.m., and Dexter Avenue was reopened to all traffic at 7:45 a.m.
The man finally made contact with police negotiators shortly after 5 a.m., Whitcomb said. He surrendered peacefully at 6:35 a.m. and is being held on suspicion of felony domestic violence assault.
Where are the cops who "don't play by the rules" and are always getting investigated by "internal affairs", and getting threatened to be "busted down to traffic duty"? Maybe we need a couple of these guys on the force--you'd have a few minutes of guns blazin', and then traffic (and, possibly, blood) would be flowing.

SPD never seem to have this problem in the CD, valley, or south end...!
Not when people have a lawyer on their speed dial ready to sue the city. Do you want taxes to go up to pay for these lawsuits or have a road closed during the morning?
