YOU CAN'T RANK HEART, SCOUT.COM!!!
Jamelle McMillan may be Nate McMillan's son, and he may have a D-1 scholarship, and he may be the top-rated point guard in the West Coast according to Scout.com, but in the unlikely event that we had to pick one of O'Dea's guards for a pickup game that would determine the fate of the free world, we'd pick Chris Banchero.
Who's O'Dea's leading scorer? Banchero.
Who's their grittiest defender? Banchero.
Who's their best conditioned player? Banchero, you say? Don't interrupt us. And no, we won't sit down.
He proved himself again Tuesday night in a runaway win over #4-ranked Sealth, leading all scorers with 19 points, throwing some terrific passes and playing tough defense against the quick, muscular Sealth guards.
Not to say that McMillan didn't play well, he did, he's O'Dea's floor leader and their most reliable ballhandler. But Banchero's the soul of the team, and while we think O'Dea could win games without McMillan, we don't think they could win them without Banchero.
Need proof? Here it is. McMillan's scored less than ten points in three O'Dea games. O'Dea won all three. Banchero's scored less than ten points in only one O'Dea game. It just happened to be their only loss of the season. What a coinkidink!
Are you satisfied? We thought so. Next week, we prove why French dressing is disgusting.
