City Council Announces Advisory Vote on Whether to Have Advisory Vote
Seattle will vote February 13th on whether to vote on whether to build a replacement Viaduct or a tunnel, the City Council announced today.
"The special Viaduct election will cost the city $1 million," Council President Jan Drago said. "We should find out if Seattleites want this election before we spend the money." Drago announced future special elections on what brand of hand soap to use in the City Hall bathroom, whether to install a traffic circle on 82nd and Wallingford, and if she should give her twin nieces savings bonds or a gift card on their 16th birthdays.
There will be two questions on the February 15th ballot:
Question One: Should the city hold a special election on the Viaduct?
Question Two: Should the city not hold a special election on the Viaduct?
What if voters vote yes on both options?
Drago said she didn't know. "We didn't go there," she said.
Mayor Nickels, in San Diego for a conference, released this statement: "I will abide by the results of the election, and I would expect the Governor and state legislative leaders who requested this vote to do the same."
