Byron of God Forbid
MUSIC + ART: Nothing needs to be said about KEXP's DJ Riz, since the man is nothing short of a Seattle party-rocking institution. HVW8 might be unknown to many of you though. Along with more traditional production, HVW8 paints murals in front of live club audiences, both capturing and reflecting the vibe of the crowd that surrounds them. Interesting to see art come to life in real-time.

ART: After months of hearing about every nail and rivet that went into the Olympic Sculpture Park, now you can finally go see for yourself the reason for all the fuss. They're opening things up right with a grand celebration including music, dance, and other demonstrations (continuing Sunday). There are even free shuttles so you don't have parking as an excuse not to go.

MUSIC: Other fests spread themselves out over a few days to give the audience a chance to have the music really sink in. Not so with the Seattle Metal Fest. Eight bands out to destroy your eardrums and taint your very soul, one right after another. By the end you'll be screaming for sweet sweet relief. Why make the audience experience a concert as an exercise in endurance? Because SMF is fucking metal, that's why.
