Get Out

MUSIC: God help you if you can't appreciate the genius of Stephen Malkmus. Alright, so he's not playing with Pavement (best indie band EVER, pleeeeeease reunite!), but tonight with The Jicks, he'll have one thing that Pavement never had: badass Janet Weiss on drums. Hells yeah!

8pm doors // Neumo's // $15

GOTH: Blacklight hopes to pick up where The Vogue left off in their new home at the Capitol Hill Arts Center. Friday's their grand opening *and* fetish night, so be sure to wear your best vinyl.

CONVENTIONS: The American Library Association's Midwinter Meeting kicks off today and runs through next Wednesday. Several years ago, we attended one of the ALA conventions, and it was AWESOME. We met Beverly Cleary and Tomie dePaola and ended up with more magnets, pens, and library-related doo-dads than one could possibly ever need. Registration's pricey (up to $200/day), so either befriend a librarian or suck it up and pay $25 to get access to the exhibits. Reading is FUNdamental, yo.

5:30pm // Convention Center // $25 and up
