11 Huling Bros. Employees Colluded to Steal From a Mentally Ill Man, Allegedly

Just two weeks ago, Steve Huling announced that the family is selling their auto dealership, which they've owned for 60 years.

One thing the new owners might consider doing is including this question on employment applications: "Are you a soulless, immoral asshole?"

Because a sales manager and ten other Huling Bros. employees are accused of ripping off--to the tune of $100K--a mentally-ill man who accessorizes with his own poo.

Investigators say the men first took advantage of the 60-year-old man by selling him a truck at the 30,000 dollar maximum price even though he appeared to have a diminished mental capacity and was covered in his own urine and feces.

Investigators say when two of the salesmen learned the man had cash in his home they burglarized it for $70,000.

And, investigators say, one of the salesmen schemed to have the rights to the truck signed over to him.

In all, police say eleven dealership employees were involved in victimizing the man who is now being treated at Western State Hospital.

The dealership reimbursed the man the $30,000 he paid for the truck, though the $70,000 that was stolen will probably be a matter for the police.

UPDATE: The P-I reports that three men have been arrested. Also that when the poor guy reported the crime, the cops saw how mentally ill he was and took him to Harborview. When he got there, he called Huling Bros. for help. These salespeople can now join the people who pretended their relatives died on 9/11 in a special circle of hell.

The sterling reputation of the used car industry remains.

The city has an official "news advisory" about this: http://www.seattle.gov/news/detail.asp?ID=6947&Dept=16

If you bought your vehicle from Huling like I did, you might want to give it a look. They cite the bad people's names. See if you haggled with an alleged swindler!
