UWT just closed down at 4:30 so that their staff wouldn't get stuck in potentially rough conditions tonight. UW Seattle doesn't do a damn thing.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to feel this way. Have you guys seen the pic on the front of the Seattle Times website of jack-knifed bus? My bus did the same thing last week going down 85th out of Greenwood. The posting for the staff weather policy I saw online this morning was last updated in 1990. I think it will take a staff member getting killed and the U being sued for anything to change. I have my own pic from last week from inside my bus after it had stopped across four lanes of traffic. What I don't undertsand is that UW Tacoma and Bothel will close, but not Seattle. Half the staff comes from those other areas. I'm very fed up with this place at the moment. Two previous days in November and December were declared states of emergency by our Governor no less!

UW never closes. Ever. Seriously, it takes a freaking earthquake/rapture to even consider closing things down.

Hmm, the server ate my comment but Mike, yes, it's absolutely ridiculous that one of the areas largest employers doesn't take the lead when the WSDOT asks people to stay off the roads.

Mike, I just sent the Emmert an email asking the same damn thing. When the WSDOT puts out a notice requesting that people stay off the roads, maybe it'd be smart for one of the largest area employers to take the lead!

If any UW employee were to be in an accident or get injured in some way, he and the whomever makes this decision should be held financially and/or criminally liable. It's absolutely ridiculous that UWT, UWB, and every other institution in the city puts the safety of their staff and students at the forefront while UW Seattle could apparently not give a damn.

seriously, how is UW Seattle not closed? i can't think of a safe way to get myself to school today -- yet I don't have a choice.

Out of curiosity, how many UW Seattle employees think a delay would have been at least a bit considerate? Guess they want to squeeze every working penny out of us so they give the surplus to our President. Tell me again, why is this place worth working for?

You can barely tell the sidewalks from the streets, up on Queen Anne. I saw a bus drive down the Counterbalance, but I have no idea how it made it up in the first place. I walked down the hill and found another bus, with chains, was spinning it's wheels up even a mild slope - I'm not sure if it ever made it anywhere.
