Get Out

oakley.jpgPUBLIC TALK: Do you get guns? We don't, not really, but Wazzu's own Joan Burbank, professor of English and American Studies, thinks she does. She wrote a book on the subject, and she's going to talk about Gun Culture and American Democracy tonight at Town Hall.

7:30pm // Town Hall Seattle, Eighth & Seneca (downstairs; enter on Seneca) // $5 tickets at the door

RITUAL EMBARRASSMENT: "Melodrama and lust and braces and accidental erections"! If you have tickets to tonight's Salon of Shame, you're in luck -- those are the kinds of embarrassing topics you might be hearing about. If you don't have tickets, they're sold out, but you could try your luck for an unclaimed ticket at 7:20. We recommend signing up for their notification list. Or volunteering to read something embarrassing from one of your old diaries.

7:30pm // Jewelbox Theatre, 2320 2nd Ave // $5 if you're lucky enough to score a ticket at this point

ALTERNATIVE ROCK 'N' ROLL MUSIC: They say everyone who bought a copy of the Velvet Underground's Velvet Underground and Nico went on to form their own band. A few of those local purchasers will be playing VU covers tonight at the Crocodile. Quit hogging the stage, whoever plays "Sister Ray"!

9:00pm // The Crocodile, 2200 2nd Ave // $7, 21+
