Why the Art Museum Is Rooting Against the Seahawks

sculpark.PNGSAM just can't wait to open its sculpture park. Over on the Slog, Jen Graves summarizes the kvetching about SAM's sculpture park's January 20th opening.

Here's another reason why 1/20 isn't working for us, and it's the same reason SAM employees were rooting against the Hawks on Saturday.

According to our highly placed museum source, had the Seahawks lost, the Space Needle would've been lit up with a sculpture park related display. But with the Seahawks still in the playoffs, they won't be taking down the football paraphernalia for at least another week.

Graves leaves this message for persistent complainers: "It's opening Jan. 20 and that's that. Don't want to go in the cold? Your loss."

Another Seahawks win would keep them playing past the 20th, and presumably would eliminate any chance for a 605 foot high sculpture park ad.

  • Do people really still pay attention to professional sports?

Anyhow, hanging anything but fireworks off the space needle is weak. I'm talking to you, giant crab.

I do enough drinking in Seattle parks already, Ms. Graves. Thanks for the invitation, though.

    Go Hawks.
