Washington vs. LSU: Best Game Ever
As bad as the Dawgs looked against Gonzaga is how good they looked Wednesday night against LSU.
You can read the recaps: [AP}, [P-I], [Times], [New Orleans Times-Picayune] but let us just observe:
--Jon Brockman had his best game as a Husky (19 pts., 14 boards)
--Spencer Hawes had "the look" before the game. He has moves that Tim Duncan didn't have his rookie year with the Spurs. The 18 -foot jumper, the pivot and fall away, the jump hook, the double-move pivot. Sick, sick, sick. As our friend pointed out, by dominating Big Baby, he just ensured himself a mansion.
--Speaking of Big Baby, people were calling him the next Charles Barkley--he may be more like the next Danny Fortson.
--Quincy Pondexter put the game away by taking over on offense late in the second half.
--Both Brandon Burmeister and Hans Gasser hit big shots to staunch budding LSU runs.
--The defense was fantastic--great help, they trusted each other. Only Adrian Oliver had a weak game. Enough with the reach-ins!
--Ryan Appleby played great D (for Ryan Appleby) but he got absolutely posterized.
We don't know when we've ever seen a Husky team play better. Maybe the 1990 "All I Saw Was Purple" game.
