Get Out

nutcracker.jpgBURLESQUE: It's a rare Christmas present that unwraps itself. But Land of the Sweets: The Burlesque Nutcracker collects a bevy of Seattle's ecdysiast superstars in a retro-bawdy performance set to Duke Ellington's score for the holiday favorite. The eye candy includes Miss Indigo Blue, Kitten la Rue, Babette la Fave, Lily Verlaine, Jasper McAnn, Paula the Swedish Housewife, Wes Brockbank, and Waxie Moon. Merry XOXOmas.

7pm and 10pm // Triple DOor [216 Union St., across from Benaroya Hall] // $20

PUB QUIZ: Every pub's quiz is a little different. At the Kangaroo & Kiwi, expect to spend long minutes trying to identify people based on a fuzzy, black-and-white photocopy. Expect to yell -- it's loud in there. And know this: it's very possible you could play against Husker Don't; last time we played at the K&K, the superstars of the Old Pequliar thoroughly kicked our asses. But fish and chips are $6!

8:30pm // Kangaroo & Kiwi [7305 Aurora Ave. N] // $5/team

RADIO PLAY: One of our favorite moments in It's a Wonderful Life is when George, for just a moment, considers throwing the decorative wooden ball from his staircase banister at his daughter, who's incessantly practicing "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" on the family piano. Stewart's face flashes the dark impulse for just a moment before he puts the ball back. Can Grant Goodeve pull that moment off in It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play? Will he even try? Capra's film is a masterpiece; if this production is a fifth as good, it's well worth checking out.

7:30pm // Taproot Theater [204 N. 85th St.] // $23 and $25
