Aural Pleasures (12/19 - 12/25)

If you're still in the dark this week (and you're presumably reading this at work), well, here are some shows to keep you warm in the evening. If you've got power, take it easy and kick back with your friends and family. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone.

Tuesday, December 19

>>> The Northwest Boychoir at Benaroya Hall. The sound of X-mas has to be a "Festival of Lessons and Carols" with the astoundingly good Boychoir.
*mp3: Do You Hear What I Hear
7:30pm; tickets $25 adult/$20 senior/$15 student (plus Ticketmaster fees).

Wednesday, December 20

>>> Benjamin Doerr at the Showbox Green Room. Local singer/songwriter with a great voice and an interesting guitar style. You can also catch Mr. Doerr serving up espressos at Local Color.
*Music samples here.
8pm; $5. 21+.

Thursday, December 21

>>> Skullbot at Neumo's. These hard rock summer-school slackers from Stanwood, Washington are KEXP darlings and we're curious to see where they go from here.
*mp3: Lookout
9pm; $5. 21+.

Friday, December 22

>>> Eric Miller with Aaron Manino and Goodbye Victoria at Mars Bar. Eric Miller is inarguably the best, most underrated singer/songwriter in Seattle. You'll laugh, you'll cry, your heart will rip right out, or something like that.
*mp3: I Want to Stay
9pm; $6.

Saturday, December 23

>>> Emmylou Harris at Benaroya Hall (two nights: 22nd and 23rd). The Hipster-approved country balladress sings Christmas songs.
*realaudio: Why Worry
8pm; $26-$120. Mostly single tickets left at the Symphony site.

Monday, December 25... Christmas!

>>> Stay home. Watch and/or listen to A Charlie Brown Christmas.
Lucky for you, the best Christmas album of all time can be found at just about every Starbucks in town.
