Old Tree Tries To Take Out Old People

We had thought our 15th Avenue breaking news this morning would be pointing out that Coastal Kitchen is still closed from last night's flooding. But that was before we got to 14th Avenue East and East Thomas, and noticed something ... different. Luckily we had our camera phone with us.
A fairly large tree was blocking 14th, and had nearly reached the retirement living complex across the street. Old people were excitedly telling passers-by to watch out for the downed wires. The old people shouted at us that there was another tree down, up by one of Capitol Hill's historic manors. (We noticed that when the tree pulled the wires down, they broke the transformer on the pole loose. So we took a picture of that, too.)

Here's the Seattle Times on the storm (we hear their printing plant power went out, if you're wondering where your paper is). And here's the P-I. (Same printing plant. Stupid JOA.) Don't forget to read their story on Port chief Mic "Put it on the Port's tab" Dinsmore, while you're at it.
