There have been three nationally televised Seahawk home games this year, and each time our city has been hit with a wicked weather storm.
First there was the Monday night game against Oakland when were setting one day rainfall records. Then came the Packers game which was played in, what was for us, a driving snow storm. Finally tonight, with a brutal wind storm bearing down on the Puget Sound, the Hawks will knock nuts with the 49ers on the NFL Network's Thursday Night Football.
What's-a-goin-on?
Assuming Qwest Field still has power the game will kick off at 5:15, and should answer this question that has been bothering fans since the Detroit game; is this a good team that is under achieving because of a combination of lost fire and injuries or simply an average team taking advantage of its lousy division.
The windy conditions will have both teams relying on the run a lot more, which scares us because of the man they call the Inconvenient Truth, Frank Gore.
Gore is having a break out season and put up 212 yards against the Hawk defense in a Niners win last month.
Meanwhile Holmgren hates, hates, hates to run the ball, so look for Hasselbeck to hand the ball off to Alexander before trying to throw him down field.
A win would give the Seahawks their fifth division title, and put them in the playoffs for the fourth straight year, a prospect that is impossible for us to fully grasp.
Unfortunately, however, that would also mean a nationally televised home game during the first weekend in January, and either an earthquake or tsunami along with it.
