Give Good Gift: ETY•Plugs

er20-rsc.jpgSeattlest goes out to hear a lot of music, and we know you do too. For years now we've sworn by our Etymotic ER-20s to save our hearing, and other than some evenings spent right in front of speakers, post-show ear ringing has become a thing of the past. The ER-20s work better than the foam earplugs you typically come across, allowing more of the high-frequencies to come through, so you can still have a conversation or make out the vocals in a performance. We know not enough of you are protecting your hearing, so we implore you to buy a pair of these for someone you care about, even if it's yourself.

    carrie,

thanks for the alternate sources and the price comparisons.

    zach,

not sure where you could find these locally (i'm sure places like the hearing speech and deafness center or the hear center have something like this, but everyone i know has bought theirs online.

    jason,

yeah, custom ones seem like a great idea until you have to shell out $25 for a new filter every time they get wet. the er-20s seem like better value (until someone else is paying for my custom ones).

having developed intermittent tinnitus due to lack of care in high school & college, i can't recommend ear plugs enough.

the other good option, especially if you go to a lot of shows, is to get a pair specifically molded to the shape of your ear canal. they're expensive, but i've noticed a distinct difference from generic ear plugs. you can choose which level of db blocker you want.

Okay, I compared the sites a bit:

Etymonic Research sells them for $12/pair with $6 shipping

Earlove has $15/pair, $40/3 pairs, or $59/5 pairs with free shipping

You can do the math to determine which site would be better depending on how many you want to purchase.

Donte, you are a smart man!

My friends and I have been using these for >1 year, and I can't recommend them highly enough. These are a must for any 'professional clubber'. They are on my checklist everytime I go out: keys? ID? cash? earplugs?

Actually, I've purchased mine from a different online source: www.earlove.net. They cost a few bucks more than the site you mention, so I think I'll switch to your site.

Thank you for spreading the word about this!
