Since Seattlest works near the waterfront and we see those buses that are dressed up like the trolley probably thirty times a day we have ample memory prompts for the whole trolley/trolley barn thing. And yet, we could care less. If we really try hard and focus our mind on it we miss the trolley and it's cute little ding-ding and seeing the fallout from yet another minivan that tried to turn in front of it, but really it's gone and it makes little difference to our waterfront experience. Novelty transit is just that - a novelty.
Something sparked in our brain the other day, though, and we thought to ourselves, "What the fuck ever happened to that trolley barn that was supposed to get built in Pioneer Square? Well, don't say anything. Maybe people will forget about it and we can move on to transit of the future instead of transit of the past." Well it didn't work. The Seattle Times has an article on the trolley barn today. A couple of community groups are trying to jump-start some action on the barn front, but unless something happens soon the city is going to withdraw it's $7 million commitment. Alright, forget you read this. Forget about the trolley and the trolley barn.
