826 Seattle Turns One

Seattlest is a big fan of kids. And writing. And learning. And, like, the future. Kids are the future, we are the past, and so it goes.

On that note, we are excited about the first ever birthday (or the second? Is birth and age a zero-based concept or what? We're too tired to figure this out presently) of 826 Seattle, the non-profit writing center that helps kids develop their writing skills so that in time they become less terrible adults than us.

The center's doing it in style, too: on Saturday, December 2nd they will feature an afternoon of music, readings, and perhaps most importantly of all, jelly donuts. If there is a key to a brighter future, it has be to jelly donuts.

Deb Caletti and Ryan Boudinot will read. Sherman Alexie will share winners of a contest. Nate Lashes and The Sean Nelson will sing. And if that's not enough to get you there - Natalie Portman's Shaved Head will perform. It will... do... something.

Events start at 1pm at the center, located at 8414 Greenwood Ave North. Full detail are available on their calendar.
