Quickly, Everyone Back to the Storm Cellar

From the Times of Seattle

More snow is on the way for the Seattle-Tacoma area — an additional one to three inches this afternoon, just in time for the evening commute, according to the National Weather Service.

Cold air spilling into the region from the north is expected to reach Seattle and the Eastside by 1 p.m., "with one to three inches accumulation" now forecasted, said Danny Mercer, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Seattle.

Update from the Times: Forecasters initially thought snow would hit Seattle by 1 p.m., and while it will be late, it's still expected.

Update from the PI: The line of snowfall was north of Everett by midafternoon and was expected to sweep southward through Seattle by 6 or 7 p.m. - possibly during the first half of the Seahawks-Packers game - although Mercer said conditions could change quickly.

Anyone have any info on the 49 bus? Is it still running, or have the drivers just given up, as they sometimes do?

  • It was mighty unpredictable: snowing in Redmond at 1pm, then not, then practically hailing on me on I-90 as I skedadlled home early to avoid this purported snowstorm and the Hawks traffic...

Just drove over from Wenatchee today, where six inches of beautiful, fluffy powder fell, uneventfully. Here people have turned into superfreaks. Sheesh ma-geesh.

I don't buy it. It was partly sunny and freezing downtown earlier and now it seems like it's warming up.

  • FART! That means I have to drive my girlfreind to work tomorrow since she is afraid to drive her VW bug up the icy hills of Bremerton.
