The Weekly, Workin' the Streets. Word To Your Motha'!

sea_weekly_street.JPGNew on the Seattle Weekly's website--a page for the Weekly's "Street Team."

What the shit is a street team? We didn't know either, so we consulted the Seattlest staff.

"A street team is a group of youngsters who give out the free movie passes and souvenirs and promote whatever it is they are hired to promote. In other words they are whores. check the escort section for more info."

and

"Uh, i think I know. I used to work for New Times, SW's new owner, and when I did the 'street team' referred to promo people much like those who work for commercial radio stations with names like Kickin' 96. They 'work the crowds' at all the hottest venues in town!! Much like the Red Door and those rippin' Warren Miller movies. Dude, that guy is sick!"

Nice! Is this that guerrilla marketing thing we hear so much about? Well, enjoy trying to hand out a publication with the Husky football coach on the cover. At least anyone who saw the Stanford game can use it to induce vomiting. You can see the Street Team in action at the following events:

Actually those youngers are college-educated paid staff members and are not what you identified as, "whores." Perhaps before contacting one of your fellow staff-members you might like to actually go outside of the office to attempt to have some form of intregrity in your writing, and to be a little less biased. If someone had a bad time with a paper do you really think that they are the be-all end-all of the story, no. But, it's cute that you think so.

I think it's cute when someone who works for the Weekly finally gets around to commenting on a post we wrote a month and a half ago.

Actually my friend is on the street team and I've worked in the editorial department of a newspaper in Eastern Washington.

That's interesting, considering the IP address you're writing from is at the Weekly....
